Literally, monozukuri just means making things, but the Japan External Trade Organization explains to American companies that the concept is much more intense; monozukuri means having the spirit to produce excellent products and the ability to constantly improve a production system and process. There are unlimited approaches to monozukuri. The one we are following is just one fraction of the possibilities. We are seeking to get closer and closer to the elusive ideal of ultimate monozukuri. Maintaining that spirit, we feel, is the only way to approach monozukuri. There is an old Japanese expression: making things is making people, but its actual meaning is closer to develop people, then make products. We like to think also that people are made through making things. In order to continue pleasing our customers, we are all devoted to seeking the way.
